Music Glut Deepens
Posted on February 15th, 2009 8 comments
The worldwide music glut deepened further Wednesday, as Ellwood Barrett released his brand new album “Alma Stew”. Mr. Barrett spoke to us last week from his single-wide “aluminum cabin” near Alma, Colorado.
Supply is far exceeding demand in areas near Alma, as well as points to the north, south, east and west. “Well”, said the self-described part-time carpenter, “At first I sold a bunch of CDs to my friends and family, but then the sales just kind of petered out”. Mr. Barrett plays harmonica, and refers to his style as “random, spaced-out hippie noodling”.
“But hey”, Mr. Barrett concluded, “It beats the heck out of bangin’ nails.”
If you would like to do your part to alleviate the music glut, send $20 to:

So the Bottoms Up Blues Gang in town, man. Head on down to the Motherloaded late on Thursday, February 26 for a rockin’ great blues band from St. Louis…playing it like it should be played.
Also, check out Old Soul, with the homeboys from over the pass in Alma, the Tuesday night balcony club…tunes from good and high up, Saturday, February 28 around 10pm at the Gold Pan…Breckenridge’s answer to the question, “What should be do tonight, dude?”

Thursday night was hoppin’ at the Motherloaded – if you missed it – you missed a good show. BUBG always plays is right – and Breckenridge was full of happy people looin’ for a play to party.
Friday was mellow at the South Park – old friends came by to add to the local flavor and it was also a great night for rockin’ harmonica blues.
