HARMONICA BEATBOX & LOOP #2: The Bullfrog Blues
Posted on April 9th, 2010 6 commentsA quick approach to creating a 12 Bar Blues loop for harmonica players, using a new technique: percussive mic tapping with metal rings. I tap rhythmically to add a low pulse, with two metal rings on my fingers to give the beat a nice sharp edge. This means you can create two layers of the loop with one pass: chord rhythm and percussion, which speeds things up.

IRISH HARMONICA 4: The Slide Diatonic
Posted on April 6th, 2010 2 commentsThis is a specialist custom harmonica I use for playing Irish/Celtic music. It looks like a chromatic, but isn’t! It has all the slide notes tuned to the home key of the harmonica, hence the name Slide Diatonic. You can buy one for yourself. Email me for details: bren@brendan-power.com

Vox DA5 amp review for harmonica
Posted on March 11th, 2010 No commentsThis is a review of sorts of the Vox DA5 digital modeling amp, comparing sound of the models when used with harmonica. I think it works very well as a portable/practice harmonica amp. Also an easy way to experiment with effects.
