  • Route 66 Bobby Troup Cover w/Harmonica Jam w/Cutbait´s Playalong Backing Track

This song has been covered dozens of times in all music styles. It was written and originally performed by Bobby Troup, a singer and pianist. Route 66 is a famous US road that goes from Los Angeles to Chicago. There are many interesting sights and landmarks along the way, making it a popular road trip destination. Chuck Berry recorded this song in 1961. His version got the attention of The Rolling Stones, who covered it in 1964 and made it a regular part of their stage show. Rick Busciglio of Memory Lane Presentations tells us: “At a party in Hollywood in the 1970’s I was introduced to Mrs. Bobby Troup. I was very surprised with the introduction because I knew that Bobby Troup was married to a magnificent singer (and beauty) by the name of Julie London… and this lady was clearly not Julie London. First name Cynthia. This Mrs. Bobby Troup told me this tale about when she was the first wife of Troup: They were living modestly in Lancaster, Pennsylvania at the end of World War II and Bobby Troup had decided that ‘if I’m going to make it in the music business I’ve got to go to LA.’ So they drive cross country to Los Angeles and while they motor on a long boring stretch of US Route 66, they play word games coming up with the lyrics to a song (‘I get my kicks on route 66′)… which, of course, was the classic ‘Route Sixty-Six.’ When they arrived in Los Angeles and rented a small apartment they were almost penniless. Bobby Troup set their lyrics to music, peddled it around and

  • A Whiter Shade of Pale Procol Harum Cover w/Harmonica

(c)1967 on album “Procol Harum”. Procol Harum’s lyricist Keith Reid wrote the words to this song. He told us: “It’s sort of a film, really, trying to conjure up mood and tell a story. It’s about a relationship. There’s characters and there’s a location, and there’s a journey. You get the sound of the room and the feel of the room and the smell of the room. But certainly there’s a journey going on, it’s not a collection of lines just stuck together. It’s got a thread running through it.” Reid got the idea for the title when it came to him at a party, which gave him a starting point for the song. Says Reid: “I feel with songs that you’re given a piece of the puzzle, the inspiration or whatever. In this case, I had that title, ‘Whiter Shade of Pale,’ and I thought, There’s a song here. And it’s making up the puzzle that fits the piece you’ve got. You fill out the picture, you find the rest of the picture that that piece fits into.” Reid formed Procol Harum in 1967 with Gary Brooker, becoming an official member even though he didn’t sing or play any instruments. “A Whiter Shade Of Pale” was one of about 15 songs that he wrote for their first album. Says Reid: “We were really excited about it and liked it a lot. And when we were rehearsing and routine-ing our first dozen songs or so, it was one that sounded really good. But there were a few others that we liked I would say equally – we have a song on our first album called ‘Salad Days (Are Here Again)’ that was a strong

www.millioniser.com Rock Erickson -The first American called to Europe to play and record with Walter Mueller’s Millioniser 2000. (Ronald Schlimme Engineer) Harmonica like in principal giving the end user complete control over synthesizer and midi functions with the sensitivity of your own breath. This instrument is a one of a kind powerhouse. The video starts off by showing the functions of Millioniser 2000 and then merges into the on stage video which was shot in London. Rick Fenn of “Lie For A Lie” Sony Music was the music director and lead guitarist along with Charlie Barret from The FIXX on bass. The Millioniser Breath Controller units that I’m currently using in the studio are breathing new life (literally) thru their capability to dynamically control some of the most popular software and rack synths ( Garritan Personal Orchestra, Roland Sound Canvas, Yamaha VL70 ect ) and samplers like sampletank & Tascam Giga Studio ) in both the mono and polyphonic arena. If you have comments or questions please post here or email rock@millioniser.com

D=direct. It´s the unprocessed harp sound. E=effect (pitch is shifted), in this video I lowered the pitch one octave down. So it sounds like two harmonicas, one with natural sound and the other with pitch shifted. Here D:E = 60:100 which means I let the processed sound dominate.
